THE STORY BEHIND THE STORY

He wrote it down.
She kept it alive.

Joseph H. Sowder lived through a nation’s transformation. A Confederate soldier, pioneer, public servant, and diarist, he recorded the events that shaped his world — war and faith, family and migration, loss and renewal.

His great-granddaughter, Clara Cammack Park, devoted her later years to transcribing his diaries. Her work preserved a life in its everyday details, and gave future generations a way to know the man behind the name.

Now, that family record becomes a story we can watch together.
